Chuwas
Rat-people. Think "Nezumi" from L5R, but Pakistani/Persian in origin. See link for Chuwas for detailed explanations. Childlike intelligence. Viewed as cursed. Considered to have close ties with deities. A slave race. From a Persian-type city plane, where they were rented out as beggars. Have an intriguing view of what constitutes money - will barter with anything shiny or edible. Capable of eating just about anything. Live under the nose of Mekanax.
Homeland: "The City of Sand." An Arabian Sigil.
Cultural Peculiarities:
1.) Chuwa saliva is antiseptic. It is thus seen as "purifying."
2.) Chuwas have no concept of wealth, having never been allowed to keep any of what they made through begging. Their economy instead exists on trade, barter, and service.
3.) The center of Chuwa belief is Qismaat - a supreme personification of karma, fate, and destiny - and how it can be bought off.
Other Names:
Gnomes - Ratlings
Stonechildren
Sentient stone. Immobile, mostly immortal, and having existed for a very long time. The original residents of the plane. Their intelligence and memories are shared between one-another, increasing with size; "cairns," or collections of Stonechildren, hold parliament for eons in search for things to occupy their time and intellect. They also meld when touching one another into a single consciousness that holds the intelligence and memories of both progenitor-stones, a fact that obsesses some and terrifies others. That Mekanax is mostly composed of carved gears of Stonechildren who have lost their individual minds to the machine is a matter of immense concern to all.
Homeland: The plane itself.
Cultural Peculiarities:
1.) Stonechildren refer to Mekanax as "The Devouring," an unstoppable force they perceive as the growing destroyer of their world. Its minions are "Harvesters," who gather them to feed into The Devouring.
Other Names:
Gnomes - Sententium ("A strange mineral. It absorbs, stores, and can transmit thought energies. Key to both those odd talking rocks and the mutated madmen found sometimes in this world.")
Oruli - Spirit Stones
Aranae
- Considered by the Greyflight to be "nonpersons."
